Closet Organization Ideas for What to Do With Everything That Just Won't Fit!
In this step, you'll discover closet organization ideas for where to store belongings that won't fit into your space. If you have more belongings than your closet will hold and you've already decluttered, then you need to consider alternative spaces to store these items.
Have you ever heard the expression "think outside the box"? Your closet does not begin and end with the door and the three walls that contain it. There are many spaces throughout your bedroom that can be used to expand your storage options.
Wallspace near your closet can be used for storage by installing a vertical column of shelves. Decorative boxes and/or baskets can be used to contain items like hats and shoes, which can then stored on the top and bottom shelves, respectively. Casual pants and tops can be folded and stacked on the middle shelves.
The wall behind the bedroom door is the perfect place for a row of hooks to store scarves, ties, and/or belts. You could use the surface behind the door to hang robes, night clothes, or even a shoe organizer. The closet organization ideas for this area of the bedroom are limited only by your imagination.
The bedspace also presents a number of excellent storage opportunities. There are many underbed organizers for shoes, sweaters, and out of season clothing. If your budget allows, you could even consider purchasing a bed with side drawers or one with a storage compartment underneath the mattress.
Beyond these closet organization ideas, consider more obvious bedroom furniture solutions. A classic dresser is perfect for socks, t-shirts, underwear and less bulky clothing. An armoire provides additional hanging storage space. Finally, a trunk would be an effective alternative for storing blankets and sweaters.
These ideas should help you to find more than enough space to store all of the belongings that don't fit into your closet. But what if you have no closet at all? In the next article, we'll show you how to create a closet when you don't have a built in space.
