Choosing the Best Closet Organizing Solutions to Store Your Belongings!

If you've followed our instructions to this point, you are now ready to choose the best closet organizing solutions for you. You've already made your choice among a wall supported system, a self supporting system, and a combination of products. Now you need to choose storage components and/or individual products according to the types of belongings that you have to store.

Start by making a list of your "in season" belongings. This will typically include:

  • Hats and handbags
  • Scarves, ties and belts
  • Shirts, blouses, dress pants and dresses
  • Sweaters, tops, and casual pants
  • Shoes and boots
  • T-shirts, socks and underwear
Now consider where and how you'll store these items within your closet. Hats and handbags typically are best stored on shelves and optionally in boxes. A top shelf in the closet is ideal.

Scarves, ties and belts can be stored in number of ways. They can be hung from hooks. You can use a belt or tie organizer that can be hung from a rod. You can also use a specialized tie drawer. Your choice will depend on how many of these items you own. An organizer that attaches to the front of a closet side wall is recommended if that works for you as it doesn't occupy other valuable space.

Shirts and blouses are always best hung. You can purchase half rods that hang from the main rod to effectively double your hanging space. Dresses and dress pants usually require a full length hanging space.

Sweaters, tops and casual pants are best folded and stacked on shelves. You can install a row of shelves at mid level or, a short free standing shelving unit to accomodate these items.

Shoe organizers can help you to organize and store shoes and boots. You can also simply install a shelf at the bottom of your closet and store one row on the floor and another on the shelf.

T-shirts, socks and underwear are best stored in a dresser. If you don't have room for a dresser in your bedroom, then you can install drawers in your closet if space allows. A compact freestanding chest of drawers would also do the trick.

These closet organizing solutions will help you to keep your belongings neatly stored. In the next step, we'll show you how to organize the components to optimize your use of space.
