1) Make conscious decisions about your purchases. Ak yourself, is this item something that you really need? Do you have the space for it? 2) Use the boundaries of your storage products to limit clutter accumulation. If your storage capacity is reaching it's limits, consider your next purchases carefully. 3) If possible, remove one thing in the same category for every new item that you bring into your space. If you buy a new stack of magazines, for example, remove the oldest ones on your shelf.
5) Get into the habit of putting things away immediately after use. 6) Make decluttering a part of your weekly cleanup routine. 7) Involve your family. Divide down your maintenance efforts into smaller tasks and make sure that everyone has a job to do that contributes to the overall goal. 8) Assess your storage needs annually or even semi annually if necessary. Upgrade as needed. 9) Rethink anything that isn’t working. If systems that you put in place in a particular room are not effective in controlling clutter, change them. 10) Hold regular garage sales to get rid of things that you no longer want or need. 11) Schedule quarterly visits to Goodwill or another charity to donate clothing that you no longer need from the previous season. By following these tips, you'll be able to maintain your results in the long term. Change takes time to settle in and new habits take time to form. Expect that there will be setbacks and when they arise simply apply universal organizing techniques to bring things back to the status quo.
